Church Seats to City Streets
Across North Texas, there is a significant and growing need among individuals and families from all demographics who are experiencing brokenness, isolation, and emotional distress. Many are struggling to develop practical and actionable ways to cope with intense feelings such as grief, anger, worry, and other stress-related emotional responses, often due to limited access to support, low emotional awareness, and the stigma surrounding mental health within their communities.
This need is further amplified within the Christian faith community, where mental health challenges are often approached incompletely. As secular culture has increasingly permeated the culture within the Church, many believers have experienced a growing disconnect between the faith proclaimed from the seats of Sunday gatherings and the practical realities of walking faithfully through suffering during the rest of the week. In many cases, individuals pushing through deep brokenness are met with well-intentioned but incomplete responses such as “just have faith,” while they are simultaneously searching for practical guidance, relational support, and Christ-centered tools to navigate grief, emotional distress, relational conflict, burnout, addiction, trauma, and hopelessness.
As a result, the Body of Christ may unintentionally leave out the responsibility of walking closely with individuals in their distress, offering responses that can feel more surface-level than relationally present. This reflects a broader disconnect between faith and mental health, limiting a holistic understanding of emotional, psychological, relational, and spiritual well-being.
Consequently, many individuals in their darkest seasons have not experienced the Church as a place of sustained presence, healing, and Gospel-centered support that integrates both practical coping and spiritual truth. Instead, some become further isolated from the Body of Christ, deepening their sense of disconnection and unmet need for compassionate, embodied care that reflects the relational depth, truth, and restorative love of the Gospel.
Moving from Learning the Gospel in the Church Seats,
to walking out the Gospel in the City Streets
First and foremost, I want to acknowledge that the Lord has already given us the ultimate solution to the brokenness described in the previous section — Himself, through the Body of Christ, the Church. Church Seats to City Streets is not intended to compete with or replace the local church community.
For the purpose of promoting Christ above any individual name, platform, or organization, I do not envision Church Seats to City Streets as a standalone movement, but rather as a collaborative effort to build a coalition of Christ-centered social workers, therapists, pastors, ministry leaders, and others serving on the frontlines of community care. Through collaboration, coordination, and stewardship of their unique spheres of influence and resources, this coalition seeks to bridge the gap between church seats and city streets by advancing Christ-centered community care initiatives that restore individuals, strengthen churches, and cultivate sustainable systems of care rooted in the love and truth of Christ.
Identity in Christ
We believe that lasting hope and true freedom can only be found in an identity rooted in glofifying Jesus Christ.
Bible as THE
Standard of Truth
We see Scripture as an objective standard of truth that transcends across generational and cultural differences.
At Least One Trustworthy Connection
We strive to ensure that all who come into contact with this movement find at least 1 person they trust to have routine fellowship with
Core Values
These values will guide both who we unite with and how we serve.
Phase 1 - Incorporation and Partnership Development
Phase 1 is focused on creating a formal Christ-centered nonprofit entity so that fundraising, partnerships, and other resource development can be organized and accountable. This foundation will make it possible to move into Phase 2, securing a mobile outreach van and, in time, working toward the long-term vision of establishing a village community where individuals and families can experience ongoing care, connection, and restoration.
As Church Seats to City Streets is being formally incorporated, we will be forming and developing partnerships with other Christ-centered servant leaders, through active engagement with followers on social media/blogs, participating in conferences and community events, and pursuing other networking opportunities.
Phase 3 - Discipleship Village
Phase 2 - Mobile Outreach Van
Phase 2 is focused on purchasing a handicap-accessible mobile outreach van that can bring Christ-centered care directly to people where they are. This van will support regular visits to hospitals, assisted living centers, and other places where individuals may be isolated from routine connection. By going to them with prayer, encouragement, and practical support, we can extend the hope of the gospel beyond church walls and into the everyday spaces where people are hurting and in need of community.
Additionally, this van will allow us to support partners, like healthcare workers and local church communities, in transporting those they serve to doctor's visits, therapy sessions, and pastoral care appointments
Phase 3 is the long-term vision of developing a Christ-centered discipleship village—a safe, stable community where those seeking peace, refuge, and hope can put down roots and be restored. In this village, residents will have the opportunity to live affordably, participate in daily discipleship and worship, access affordable medical and mental healthcare, and receive vocational skills training and mentoring. The goal is to create a nurturing environment where individuals and families can heal, grow, and be equipped to serve and disciple others.
